Psych Point accepts clients applying for assistance through the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT). The VOCAT is a collection of Victorian government tribunals who provide financial assistance and support to some of those who have been victims of crimes that occurred in Victoria.
To access psychological services through VOCAT, a client must first apply. A legal professional can assist with this process and may charge the costs of preparing the application directly to VOCAT.
Once an application has been made, an individual can access five counselling sessions through a service such as Psych Point provided by a psychologist. The psychologist will then write a report for the VOCAT to consider an award, which may include further counselling sessions with the psychologist or another eligible clinician. Further counselling beyond the initial five counselling sessions depends upon an award of counselling by the VOCAT, so there may be a gap between session five and further VOCAT-funded treatment if the VOCAT eventually awards any.

No gap if Gap Saver eligible
VOCAT funding for psychological services may be subject to certain limitations, such as a cap on the number of sessions that can be claimed. Clients should check with VOCAT for more information on their funding and coverage specifics.
